Our legal translators
Our team is made up of legal experts. What sets us apart? Thanks to our ultra-specialised approach, we have expertise in all areas of the law.
Our legal translators
Our legal translators are all experienced and graduates of translation/interpreting schools and universities, and mainly specialise in the field of law. They also includeformer lawyers from all over the world.
All our translators master the main legal systems and in particular the law applicable in the language of the country for which they are translating. This is the guarantee of high-quality work. Our translators translate exclusively into their mother tongue. Sound logical? But it's not always the norm.
The necessary skills
A legal translator's job is more than simply translating a document: he or she must be proficient in multiple skills to achieve a satisfactory result.
Specialisation in one or more areas of law
Superior copywriting skills
Fluence in source and target languages
Quality assessment
After contacting the translator and checking their CV, references and qualifications, they are added to our database on a provisional basis. We then ask them to undertake a test:
- in two areas of law
- from one or two languages into their mother tongue
- for the two types of service (translation, post-editing) that they have indicated they are proficient in.
These tests are proofread and assessed by our in-house team and our favorite translators in whom we have complete confidence. We apply a strict assessment grid and pay particular attention to misinterpretation, the use of defined terms and fluidity of style.
Only translators who obtain excellent results are selected to join our panel on a permanent basis. For a further six months or so, these new joiners are put through their paces on small projects and assessed by our teams.
Tools and technology
Our translators work with a variety of tools.
CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools.
Spell-checking, grammar-checking, style-checking and typography-checking software .
OCR (optical character recognition) tools, needed to convert non-editable files such as PDFs.
